Music is a catalyst for lifelong learning. Studies show that music appreciation lessons significantly improve reading comprehension scores. No doubt, music does so much more to enhance our lives. So sing. Strum. Make the difference within the walls of your YMCA.

At the Y we believe that music is an expressive outlet for many people, we want to foster this belief through our new music lesson program. Currently our program will be offering piano, guitar and voice lessons. Piano lessons can start at age 4 ½ and guitar at age 6, voice lessons vary based on ability. The lessons we provide are onsite at the Fulton Family YMCA and our flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of the student. Lessons must be paid prior to the start of the lesson. YMCA Drumminators (Ages 6 & Up)

Wednesday’s 6:30pm-7:00pm
(4 week sessions)
The YMCA Drumminators are  an established group that plays a wide variety of percussion instruments with a focus on performance. Students will learn to read simple rhythm, as well as play more complex
rhythms by rote.

Members: $10 per session
Non-Members: $25 per session


BOOMWHACKERS (Ages 6 & Up)
Wednesday’s 7:00pm-7:30pm
(4 week sessions)
Boomwhackers are colorful plastic tubes which have different pitches depending on their size. This class will explore the ways
that these cool instruments can make music. Cooperation is key, since students will need to work with each other to create an
overall musical effect.

Members $10 per session
Non-Members: $25 per session

KIDS CLUB

The Fulton Family YMCA provides on-site child care for our members and program users. This service is available to children from infants 6 weeks to age 12 years  while parents are using the facility. KIDS CLUB is an activity room where your child can be busy with arts and crafts and kid friendly activities while you work out or participate in one of the many programs  available to you here at the Y.

KIDS CLUB PLUS

Ages 6 weeks-12

This exciting program offers our parents the opportunity to use the KIDS CLUB and LEAVE the building to shop without the kids, clean, take a nap or just have time to relax. While you’re away the kids will enjoy in all the KIDS CLUB activities including gym time and arts and crafts.

Any 3 hour time frame during KIDS CLUB.

Registration is required with 1 day advance notice; limited to 10 participants per day.

Members $11 first child, $7 add. child
Non-Members $16 first child, $12 add. child

*Kids ages 10 and Up can attend our Adult Fitness Classes.

* Kids ages 8-10 can use the cardio equipment in the fitness center with an Adult present on the adjacent machine, during Family Fitness hours.

* Tweens/Teens ages 11-13 can take the Fitness Orientation to be able to use the fitness center alone. They must take the orientation.

* Teens ages 14 and up can use all the classes and fitness center without an adult present.

cardio equipment, under parent supervision. Children

healthy habits and enjoy some quality time as a family!

Parenting is a balancing act. Throw in work, conflicting schedules, and attempts at any kind of self care, and juggling multiple balls, while walking on a tightrope! Join Yoga Instructor Becky Craig for a Family-centered yoga experience that you and your child will love.

NATURE KIDS– New!
AGES 6 & UP / May 13th & May 20th 5:00pm-6:00pm
Explore the outdoors and walking trails behind the Y. Identify and collect different plants, flowers, birds and bugs. Please dress to be outside. If there is rain we will have art and STEM activities with organic materials.

MESSY PLAY

This class will allow kids the opportunity to explore with paint and messy hands. Have your little one enjoy being creative while you get a workout in or just relax.

There will be late night swimming, glow in the dark games, movies on a big screen and so much more! Bring a sleeping bag, pillow, swimsuit and a change of clothes. Dinner and snacks are included. Bring a friend and have the time of your life.

STAYING HOME ALONE COURSE
AGES 8-12 / May 29th/ 5:00-7:00pm
This is an instructional course on the basics of staying home alone. Topics discussed and experienced through role playing will include parent expectations, safety, do’s and don’t’s of being responsible while home alone.

 A weekly workshop for young girls to experience our positive self-esteem boosting program! Girls Rock is designed to transform self-doubts and
insecurities into self-love & worth. We give girls the space to be silly and play while giving them the tools to build healthy relationships and

Massage Therapy

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy may be defined as systematic and scientific manipulations of body tissues for the purpose of affecting the nervous, muscular, visceral, circulatory, digestive and facial systems. Massage also encompasses deep tissue therapy, postural integration, reflexology and others.

What are the effects of massage on the Body?

The general effects on massage include stimulation of the circulatory and nervous systems, improve organ function, elevate cellular activity, enhanced muscle and general body tone, increased lymphatic circulation, as well as improved digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Speed Demons Swim Team

FULTON YMCA SPEED DEMONS

Speed Demons is a competitive swim team which offers high quality coaching and technique instruction for grades K-12.  We are a co-educational, competitive swim team that participates in junior and senior swimming under the direction of the Fulton YMCA.

Since competitive swimming is both a highly individual and team sport, the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual development are stressed.
Our coaching is planned to teach, train and encourage swimmers to achieve their potential in competitive swimming. Swimmers will learn team building, responsibility and commitment which will prove valuable to them as they grow and develop.
Swimmers will learn how to read the warm up board, pace clock and will be introduced to beginner sets and intervals.

Both Junior and Senior teams will learn to enhance the opportunity for this personal development, a policy of “Everybody Swims” is followed.

This class is not just for Silver Sneaker participants, members are encouraged to participate.


TOTAL BODY WORKOUT

This class will offer a light cardio warm up, followed by a strength portion that will meet the needs of every fitness level. The last segment will focus on core strength and balance. We have created this class to offer beginner/intermediate weights program for those who want to tone and stay healthy and fit!

GENTLE YOGA

The practice of yoga is for those who want a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well   supported and relaxing  practice. The hour long class will offer careful movement, controlled pressure and well-measured stretches, including range of motion exercises. Postures may be approached in gradual steps, with plenty of focus on breathing and repetition. If you are new to yoga this is a great way to start a  program that will help increase flexibility and  increase your health overall.


SCULPT YOGA

Sculpt Yoga blends power flow yoga with resistance training. It offers the discipline of a yoga practice and intensity options similar to a challenging fitness class. This class will boost your metabolism as you tone and sculpt every major muscle group while improving  endurance and flexibility. Classes are taught with  intensity variations, focus on the breath, traditional asana and stretching sequences, and encouragement of mental focus to help maintain yogic integrity.

SILVER AND FIT EXCEL

The Silver and Fit workout offers standing, low-impact choreography alternated with standing  upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball.  A chair is available for support. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level and can be adapted depending on the skill of individual participants.


TAI CHI

Tai Chi, often describe as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. Tai Chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. In fact, because tai chi is low impact exercise, it may be especially suitable if you’re an older adult who otherwise may not exercise.


TAI CHAIR YOGA FUSION

This modified seated version of Tai Chi can be enjoyed by anyone wishing to practice Tai Chi sitting down. People with almost any chronic condition can learn to improve their health and mobility. This safe easy to learn program relieves pain and improves health and quality of life.


VIN/YIN YOGA FUSION

Fulton SACC Handbook 2019-2020

The Fulton Family YMCA is excited to offer safe, fun and creative before and after school programming at our local elementary schools.

The YMCA is a non-profit organization that is 160 years old.  We have dedicated our practices to building strong child care programs and are the #1 child care provider in the nation.  This program provides convenience for working parents by offering care Monday – Friday from 7:00 am until 8:45 am and 3:15pm until 6:00 pm.  Our program assists in the continual socialization of your child.  It encourages children to participate in activities which will benefit them mentally, physically, and emotionally.  The children are given the opportunity to interact with one another and with adults.  The program will foster children’s personal growth and cultivate self-confidence.  It provides time in their day when the emphasis is placed on the individual and how they can feel good about themselves.  It provides a warm and friendly experience for children.

SACC is offered at Lanigan for Lanigan and Granby students. It is also offered at Volney for Fairgrieve and Volney students.                                                                                                                                                                                Please see the Brochure for a complete list of monthly prices.

There is a $30 registration fee for this program.  Registration is waived for Fulton Family YMCA family members.                                                                                                                                   PLEASE NOTE: Payments may be made at the YMCA, by mail or by phone with cash, check and credit /debit card. For your convenience, we can set up an automatic payment plan. Fees will then be drafted on a date of your choosing. 

Vacation Zone

(Vacation Days/Snow Days)

This program was created to give children a place to go during school vacation. A full day of fun in a well-supervised setting provides children with swim time and other activities that puts working parents’ minds at ease. This program is open to any elementary age student.

Time     7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. during Fulton City School District vacations.

Registration Fee: Fulton Members FREE / Non members $30
Full day: $ 34.00/child/day
Half Days/Early Dismissals: $22/child/day
2 Hour Delays $18/child/day                                                                                                                 *Scheduled days off MUST be pre-registered for!                                            * Healthy snacks are served at Vacation Zone
