SWIM LESSONS

Building Strong Swimmers to Nurture Confident Kids

With a focus on water safety and skill development, the YMCA Swim Lesson program is effective at helping children learn to swim and, more importantly, be safe around water. The Y was the first organization to establish certification programs for lifesaving, swimming and aquatic instruction, and it’s a tradition we’re proud to continue today. For more information on class levels, session dates, or evaluations call 315.598.9622 or visit our Welcome Center.

Parent & Child Classes (Ages 6 months – 2 years)

Parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, fundamental safety, and aquatic skills. Infants and toddlers learn swim readiness skills through fun and confidence building aquatic experiences. No evaluation is needed for this level of swim, but please call to enroll.

School Age Classes (Ages 3 – 14)

Nationally, the YMCA has developed new swim requirements for each level. To ensure each participant is placed in the level that corresponds with their ability, we hold swim evaluations for every child prior to registration. Please call or visit our Welcome Center to register for an evaluation in order to be placed in a class.
